2008 Ballet Master Workshop

The workshop will feature classes in Ballet Technique and Variations and the ballet, ‘The Fairy Doll’ will be set on the participants.

Jean Paul Comelin

French-born and US resident, choreographer, director and master teacher Jean Paul Comelin has long been associated with the world’s most prominent ballet companies, and some of the greatest names in the dance world of the 20th century. 

Jean Paul Comelin joined the Paris Opera Ballet in 1956 and went on to dance with London Festival Ballet, the National Ballet of Washington and the Pennsylvania Ballet as a principal dancer. He has also appeared with many international companies, and was coached by George Balanchine in several of his own ballets. 

Mr. Comelin has choreographed over sixty works for companies on five continents. From 1974-1 980, Mr. Comelin was the artistic director of the Milwaukee Ballet. In 1980 accepted the position of Ballet Master of the prestigious Stuttgart Ballet.

Mr. Comelin has worked with such notable dancers as Morgot Fonteyn, Rudolf Nureyev, Michail Baryshnikov, Natalia Makarova, Lawrence Rhodes, Carla Fracci, John Gipin, Marcia Haydee and more. 

Today, Mr. Comelin continues choreographing, directing, lecturing and teaching around the world, and as a consultant in the development of dance.
